This one is really more of a serving suggestion. You don’t really need a recipe for oatmeal – just follow the directions on your oatmeal container.
Every once in a while, somebody cracks a joke, and everybody goes “hahahahaha wait a minute…” Jim was joking about internet memes involving putting bacon in everything, and as soon as he said “bacon oatmeal” we both knew we had to try it. And what do you know, it works!
Works equally well with old-fashioned as well as steel-cut oats
- I used 1 strip of bacon for each serving of oatmeal. Every bite of bacon goodness packs a lot of flavor, so I cut up the strip into very small pieces and I feel less guilt about eating bacon
- If you like crispy bacon, it crumbles nicely into little bits; if you prefer your bacon a little floppy, use kitchen scissors to cut it up
- Maple syrup is to taste
- Jim uses 2% milk and I use almond milk
- Top with cinnamon
