Ron Howard and Distinguished Speaker Events

Recently I was fortunate to receive an invitation to attend the Distinguished Speakers Series to hear Actor/Director Ron Howard speak.
It was great. He told lots of stories of growing up on camera, working with Andy Griffith, starring in Happy Days, making Cocoon and working with great old school Hollywood actors. He even took a selfie on stage. Ron Howard lived an extremely unusual life which he readily acknowledges. Not every 14 year old kid making movies in 8mm gets to show their work to Henry Fonda.

Grab your walking shoes, it’s Art Weekend!

We are looking forward to one of our favorite events, Pasadena Art Weekend is a free celebration of the Arts that takes over Pasadena twice a year, every October and April. Friday, October 12 from 6 – 10, Pasadena museums, colleges, and art galleries open wide their doors. Free shuttles run all evening taking guests all over town. Comfy walking shoes are a must!

Celebrating Julia Child

Pasadena kicked off a six-week long celebration to commemorate the 100th birthday of native daughter, Julia Child. It began on her birthday, which was August 15, with a citywide Julia Child Cocktail Party and costume contest.

PMCA 10th Anniversary Celebration

Interesting things to do are all around you. Many of them are free. If you love art, but can’t afford the price of admission to the Huntington Library in Pasadena ($20/Weekdays and $23/Weekends) or Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York ($25) take advantage of Art Walks and Free Museum Days.
