Interesting things to do are all around you. Many of them are free. If you love art, but can’t afford the price of admission to the Huntington Library in Pasadena ($20/Weekdays and $23/Weekends) or Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York ($25) take advantage of Art Walks and Free Museum Days. (We’ll have more to say on both of these in coming weeks.)
Friends often comment that they never hear about any of the interesting events we go to. Yes, Facebook is a convenient way to post videos featuring screaming hedgehogs and dancing middle-aged men, but social media is also a terrific way to keep up with events and local organizations. “Like” the pages on Facebook so you don’t miss out. The organization’s Social Media Marketing Team or intern promotes upcoming events using Facebook and Twitter. That’s how I found out about an event we plan to attend at our favorite local museum this Saturday afternoon.
The Pasadena Museum of California Art is celebrating their 10th birthday and they are throwing a party on Saturday, September 22, which includes free admission, live performances, DJs, hands-on workshops, food trucks, and a beer garden. We love the PMCA, their emphasis on California art and design, and their warm and friendly owners/visionaries, Bob and Arlene Oltman. Check out our new Facebook page – we’ll upload photos from the event. If you happen to be in the Los Angeles area, come join the fun. You can RSVP on the PMCA’s Facebook event page.
Happy birthday, PMCA!
