I’ve been experimenting with bath salts this year. I’ve sent them to my daughters and friends for a variety of occasions. The massage therapist at my chiropractor’s office has encouraged me to spend more time soaking away my stress and stiffness. Since both of my daughters will be home for the holidays I purchased approximately a dozen different oils and we intend to spend a day mixing up new batches that they can take home.

Cherry Chocolate Granola
Our local community center gives away food donated by local supermarkets and I picked up a 3 pound bag of oats when I was there recently. The bag was faded, battered, and taped, but I was intrigued by the challenge, so when I got home, I searched for ways to use up 3 pounds of oats before they were truly unusable. I used those oats for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even as a facial product! First, I made Cherry Chocolate Granola.

Costumes from Your Printer
Re-running an article from last year because it’s useful…. It’s the day before Halloween; you didn’t go to any parties over the weekend, you weren’t planning on doing anything special tomorrow, so you didn’t think you needed a costume this year. But you’ve just learned that you’re expected to dress up in costume for work …

Holiday Gift Guide – part 1
We’ve made no secret of our distaste for the annual descent into madness known as Black Friday, and this year it’s even worse, with many of the big box retailers starting the money-grubbing on Thanksgiving morning. Now, we could write a long and cranky screed about how many kinds of wrong this is, but instead, we’re going to be positive here.

DIY Tuesday: ‘Star Trek’ communicator
As everybody who ever met me can tell you, I’m a geek, a nerd, a complete chump for any and all pop culture detritus that strikes my whimsy, especially anything from prior to the early ’80s. One thing I’ve always wanted and could never have was a cell phone that was also a replica of …

DIY Monday: From Headboard to Bench
Here’s another easy DIY project courtesy of our Pinterest page. Kristi at Addicted2Decorating converted a headboard and footboard she found at an estate sale into a fancy bench. You could put it in your entry (or if you’re living where such a thing is a necessity, your mudroom), or, with proper sealing, use it as …
