Grab your walking shoes, it’s Art Weekend!

Pasadena Artwalk on El Molino.

We are looking forward to one of our favorite events, Pasadena Art Weekend is a free celebration of the Arts that takes over Pasadena twice a year, every October and April. Friday, October 12 from 6 ā€“ 10, Pasadena museums, colleges, and art galleries open wide their doors. Free shuttles run all evening taking guests all over town. Comfy walking shoes are a must!

On Saturday, October 13, after we wrap up our classes at the archery range, we will head over to South Lake for The Art of Food/Taste of South Lake from 11-4PM. The free outdoor festival will include food from local restaurants, a beer and wine garden, live music, and cooking demonstrations.

After lunch, Iā€™d really like to check out ArtWalk in the Playhouse District from 11-5PM which promises an art show and sale, art chats, and hands-on activities. Jim’s absurd cartoonist pal Lonnie Millsap is one of the many artists participating.

Our Saturdays begin very early, but if we have energy left, we could wander over to Paseo Colorado for Art Rhythm from 5-9PM.

Art Weekend concludes Sunday, October 14 with the Old Pasadena Cultural Dance Festival from 1-6PM.

Throughout the weekend we can expect to see friends, neighbors and city leaders. We never miss an opportunity to visit the Pasadena Museum of California Art and it is always interesting to visit one of the preeminent art institutions in the world, Art Center College of Design. The beautiful Italian and Dutch paintings in the permanent collection at the Norton Simon Museum are always worth a visit, and the whole city will be crawling with unique and interesting food trucks all weekend.
